Nowadays, Filipinos
are using the internet due to the situation of different covid variants
spreading not only in the Philippines but also worldwide. There are some
advantages but we can’t hide the fact that there are also disadvantages.
Technology issues like internet connectivity are one of the main factors.
Online
education is a new normal for students. However, most of them are also
struggling because of technology issues. We surveyed online learning and most
of them are struggling because of internet connectivity and devices that they
will use like laptops, personal computers, and cellular phones.
Let us
discover the good and bad sides of online learning in the Philippines.
Some of the
good or advantages are:
First,
accessibility. All students can access online regardless of the place they were
in. Thus, they don’t need to go to school by any means of transportation.
Second,
efficiency. This online procedure is an efficient way to keep online lectures,
recording of files, saving of documents, and using some of the tools in the
computers.
Lastly,
attending classes. Most of the students can’t go to school because they feel
sick. However, there are fewer chances of them to miss out on the lessons.
Some of the
bad or disadvantages are:
First,
internet connectivity. A lot of places in the rural areas are experiencing the slow
speed of internet connection.
Second,
digital devices. Some of the students can’t afford to buy cellular phones or
personal computers. However, there are donations from private and government
entities for the poor students who wish to continue their learnings.
Lastly,
social life. Interaction between peers or teachers is important. It is also a way
to boost your confidence in the people around you but due to this online
education, there is no physical interaction.
For now, we
must accept online education. This is the new normal. There are a lot of
teaching methods whether it is modular or online, the students and teachers
must always be productive.
